Providing social support and communication opportunities for people with aphasia
With the help of Chaleece Sandberg, associate professor of communication sciences and disorders, two Penn State alumni formed the Penn State Alumni Aphasia Group. Created by people with aphasia for people with aphasia, the group aims to offer a safe space for people with aphasia to practice speaking, form connections, share resources, and advocate for aphasia awareness.

Maggie DeVito served as student marshal for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders during spring 2024 commencement. While at Penn State, she served as vice president of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and was a member of Alpha Phi International Women’s Fraternity and the College of Health and Human Development Leadership Initiative.
