A number of HDFS faculty develop and apply advanced computational methods to study developmental systems. Research projects in the field develop and adapt statistical methods from a wide range of perspectives including dynamical systems, control theory, data mining, and Bayesian modeling, and apply these methods to study the process of change in individual, dyadic, and group systems across the human lifespan and at timescales ranging from milliseconds to millennia.
