HHD Strategic Plan

Health and Human Development Strategic Plan — 2021-2025

Introduction from the Dean

As part of Penn State University’s ongoing strategic planning effort, “Our Commitment to Impact,” the College of Health and Human Development has developed a five-year strategic plan for 2021-2025. Our eight academic units have also developed their own strategic plan for that same five-year period. This webpage provides links to the college and academic unit strategic plans. I encourage anyone interested in the future the college to review these documents. In doing so, however, it is important to remember the following.

First, a strategic plan does not encapsulate all that the college hopes to accomplish over the next five years, nor will it reflect in to the same degree all the priorities of our component academic units. We have developed the college plan to focus on a focused set of goals and objectives where organization and oversight of activities needed to achieve these objectives and goals best lives at the college-level. Next, our college and academic unit plans were developed to take effect at the start of 2021, but we very much believe that these plans should be dynamic—as conditions change in the higher education landscape, in the fields related to human health and well-being that are central to our mission, and in the Penn State University ecosystem, we will adapt and modify our plans’ goals, objectives and action items. Each summer, we will update documentation on this page accordingly. Finally, the University will be tracking progress on the nearly sixty plans from all its colleges, campuses, and operating units and consolidating data on their collective impact over the next five years. You can find more information and updates on the University-wide strategic planning effort.

With best wishes for a fulfilling and impactful five years,

Craig J. Newschaffer
