  • Appointed dean of the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont, effective July 1, 2024.
  • Served as department head for the Penn State Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management from 2013-2024.
  • Prior to arriving at Penn State, served as the associate dean of academic affairs and associate professor in the Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources in the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University.
  • Earned a Ph.D. in Natural Resources from the University of Vermont and an M.S. in Forest Resource Management from SUNY ESF - SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

  • Experienced educational leader who has been actively involved in both formal and non-formal educational settings for more than 30 years.
  • Currently working at Outward Bound International; working to support, develop, and grow the global network of Outward Bound Schools.
  • Honors degree in Political Science, a teaching degree in Outdoor and Experiential Education, a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (2003) and a MBA with a Specialization in Leadership (2005).
  • Executive Director of Outward Bound Canada from 2010 - 2019. During this time, Sarah revitalized and grew the organization, focusing on increasing access to OBC’s life-impacting programs through strategic partnerships and initiatives.
