KINES 295B: Introduction to Kinesiology Careers – 1 credit

KINES 295B exposes students to self-examination, career pathways, certification prerequisites and internship opportunities within the related field of studies.

KINES 395B: Leadership Practicum (1 credit)

KINES 395B is a required course for students in the fitness studies and movement science options. It is the second of three practicum courses done under the supervision of a fitness instructor, strength and conditioning coach, wellness coordinator, researcher, or physical therapist, etc., which enables the student to have an introduction to a hands-on leadership experience in the fitness/wellness/allied health field. KINES 495B: Field and/or Research Practicum in Kinesiology (6 credits)

KINES 495B is a required course for students in the fitness studies and movement science options. The department has accommodations for both off-site and on-site practicum experiences.

The off-site practicum experiences are conducted with approval* of the practicum coordinator, Lori Gravish Hurtack. This culminating experience is designed by the student to be appropriate for the option and the student's goals. At least one full semester prior to the beginning of the practicum, procedures and guidelines should be obtained by going to the KINES 495B internship web pages or by going to the Kinesiology Undergraduate Program Office in 275 Recreation Building. The practicum application must be submitted by the announced deadline in the semester preceding the practicum experience.

The on-site practicum experiences are supervised by members of the Department of Kinesiology research faculty. These research experiences are tailored to the student and faculty interests in conducting research and special projects. The Kines 495B/D application for working with Kines research faculty and the agreement form are available on the KINES 495B Internship web pages or by going to the Kinesiology Undergraduate Program Office in 275 Recreation Building.

Note: Students electing the Kines faculty mentored internship should not schedule Kines 495B section 001. Students should contact a faculty mentor or the Kinesiology Undergraduate Program Office in 275 Recreation Building.

KINES 495D: Expanded Field and/or Research Practicum in Kinesiology (1-6 credits)

Additional participation under supervision in a field or research practicum. Students may elect to enroll in KINES 495D; however, the course must be taken concurrently with KINES 495B. KINES 495D allows students the flexibility to register for up to 1-6 credits for their final practicum.
