Leadership Initiative
HHD Leadership Initiative
The Health and Human Development Leadership EDGE Program is an essential part of the college's commitment to provide opportunities for students to develop core values, attitudes, and competencies that are the foundation of effective leadership.
EDGE, in this case, stands for Exploration, Development, and Guided Education. The goal of this program is to provide structured skill development, as well as one-on-one and group coaching to facilitate the development of leadership fundamentals.
Vision, Mission, & Objectives
Building on the original Women’s Leadership Initiative, this updated approach developed by alumni of the college and leaders throughout the nation expands leadership and networking opportunities to a broader and more diverse group of student leaders.
Participants emerge from the program with an enhanced understanding of their own leadership philosophy, the ability to identify and practice key leadership behaviors, and a greater appreciation of the role leadership plays in our global community.
- Vision
-
To enrich the leadership potential of HHD students through Engaged Learning experiences dedicated to leadership training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Mission
-
To produce visionary student leaders grounded in theory and practice who enact positive change in their local communities and organizations today while preparing to contribute to a more inclusive, innovative, and imaginative global community tomorrow.
- Objectives
-
-
To educate students on leadership theories, styles, and models
-
To help students identify their personal values, goals, and leadership behaviors
-
To provide a space for students to practice and hone foundational leadership skills
-
[The HHD Leadership Initiative] definitely helped me grow professionally because it was the most professional setting I've been in so far. Personally, I feel more confident as a leader which helps me academically as well!
